Greetings to patients

Dr Atsuo Itakura's
Atsuo Itakura
Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
I would like to offer my greetings on behalf of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Juntendo Hospital, Juntendo University School of Medicine, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine.

This course has a long history, having been started in 1943 by Professor Tamaki Imai, and the doctors who have been affiliated with it since its founding are proud to provide medical care to patients with a spirit of ``benevolence.'' , I am involved in obstetrics and gynecology treatment. Many obstetricians and gynecologists who have graduated from this course are now active in front-line obstetrics and gynecology medical care, including at Juntendo Hospital.

Obstetrics and gynecology covers a wide range of areas, from eggs to fertilized eggs, fetuses, newborns, adolescence, maturation, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, menopause, and old age.We treat and research not only diseases such as infertility, endocrinology, obstetrics, and gynecological tumors, but also mental care such as postpartum depression and menopausal disorders, and various issues related to female athletes.

At our hospital, we provide obstetrics and gynecology malignant tumors, uterine fibroids, and endometriosis for those who wish to give birth after becoming pregnant, those who are concerned about postpartum breastfeeding consultation, mental care, and postpartum aftereffects. The department is divided into gynecology departments, which are consulted for diseases specific to women, such as women's problems, and concerns faced by female athletes.

Our hospital is a core training facility for the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a core training facility for perinatal and neonatal specialists in Japan, a training facility certified by the Japanese Society of Reproductive Medicine, and a specialist training facility for the Japanese Society of Gynecologic Oncology. Certified as a designated training facility, we strive to improve the quality of medical care and cultivate good medical professionals. In the field of obstetrics, as a regional perinatal maternal and child medical center, we manage many fetal diseases and high-risk pregnancies while maintaining close cooperation with pediatrics and pediatric surgery. We also offer painless delivery 24 hours a day.

In the field of gynecology, we treat diseases unique to women, such as uterine fibroids and endometriosis, using laparoscopic surgery, which boasts one of the highest numbers in the country. These treatments, followed by assisted reproductive technology (infertility treatment), have made it possible for many women who were previously unable to conceive to become pregnant and give birth. These technologies have also spread to gynecological malignant tumors, and more recently, we have actively introduced robot-assisted surgery, and we are constantly working on cutting-edge medical care that reduces the burden on patients. However, since it is cutting-edge medical care, all of our obstetrics and gynecology doctors, midwives, and nursing staff continue to "continue to move forward," keeping in mind that it is most important to provide medical care safely. .

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Graduate School of Medicine presents research that is highly acclaimed domestically and internationally in both the fields of social medicine research and molecular biological research, some of which can now be applied to patients. I did.

We are also putting effort into the education of doctors, so we hope that residents and doctors who want to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology in the future will understand the features of our course through this website.
